A 30-year Trustee Area 2 resident and longtime education advocate, Joe W. Bowers Jr. knows the Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) and is prepared to serve as the district approaches the return of local control.

Inglewood residents need a representative who understands the district, listens to their concerns and keeps the board focused on results.

For more than a decade, Joe has followed the district’s finances and governance, worked with policymakers and state agencies, pressed for greater accountability and pushed for a state audit of Inglewood Unified’s finances and operations.

What matters to residents in Trustee Area 2

  • Reading & math at grade level. More students must read and do mathematics at grade level, with early help for those who fall behind.
  • Support for teachers. Teachers need support, safe campuses and competitive compensation that the district can sustain.
  • A voice for parents. Parents need understandable information and a voice before major decisions are made.
  • Rebuilding confidence. Rebuilding confidence in district schools is essential to improving enrollment.
  • Protecting the recovery. The district must protect its financial recovery and remain accountable as local control returns.
